Zia's Cabinet

Bilingual Crisis

The Zia’s Cabinet is a specialized bilingual crisis committee set in the historical context of Pakistan during the 1980s. The committee will address a range of issues, including the Cold War, the war in Afghanistan, and the rise of religious extremism in Pakistan, and the crisis will unfold during that epoch. Delegates will assume the roles of members of General Zia-ul-Haq’s cabinet members and will be expected to debate on a range of political, economic, and social issues that faced Pakistan during that period. Delegates will be required to analyze the political landscape, to develop and implement policies, and to negotiate with other members of the cabinet to find solutions to the challenges facing the country. Delegates will have the opportunity to gain a comprehensive understanding of the historical context, the key players, and the events of the time. The Zia’s Cabinet will be the perfect opportunity for seasoned delegates to expand their boundaries of debate and to gain a deeper understanding of the politics and events of 1980s Pakistan.
